The 25th session of the Council of Europe Standing Conference of Ministers of Education ended in April 12, with the theme of "securing education with democracy". The general commander of Guardia di Finanaza (Italy's law enforcement agency), Saverio Calpolupo talked about San Marino in a taxation conference in Rome lately. He provided great detail about the transactions of the "Ivory Tower" that were not made public before, and hoped collaboration between the two countries. The "Ivory Tower" is referring to the thousands of people who had made large financial transfers with the Republic of San Marino, during the time period of 2004 to 2014. Which some are potentially evading taxation. 回覆刪除The people avoid taxes by moving large amounts of money into shell companies to make governments unable to find them (shell companies are inactive companies used for financial transactions or other future use). Those operations are usually done in 'tax havens', countries that has a low tax rate, which San Marino can be considered one.
